V O Y A G E O F T H E S C A R L E T Q U E E N ----------- --- ----- ------------- --------- 1947 - 1948 First Show: Jul 03, 1947 Last Show: Feb 25, 1948 Number Shows: not known Audition Show: Feb 02, 1947 Series Description: THE VOYAGE OF THE SCARLET QUEEN was a short-lived adventure series heard over Mutual stations. It starred Ellot Lewis as Captain Philip Carney, master of the ketch Scarlet Queen and Ed Max as Mr. Gallagher. Some other notable Hollywood radio actors who made appearences in the series were Jeff Chandler, William Conrad, John Dehner, Verna Felton, Bill Johnstone, Jack Kruschen, Cathy Lewis, Roddy McDowell and Ben Wright. The voyage starts in San Francisco and the Scarlet Queen travels westward in the Pacific. The first episode is from San Francisco to Honolulu. The shows track the voyage from port to port. The action of one episode can carry over into the next episode, but the series should not be considered a serial. Each show is a complete 30-minute adventure. Listen closely, as the sound effects really help transport the listener to exotic Pacific locations. The producer for the entire series was James Burton. Writers were Gil Doud and Robert Tallman. Sound effects were done by Ray Kemper, Bill James and Tom Hanley. The musical score was by Richard Aurandt. Log Comments: Some dates differed between catalogs. Although most titles matched from source to source, there were a few that didn't. The most common found titles were used here. Two shows appear to be missing at this time, but the titles were given in Jerry Haendiges' listing. THE LOG OF THE BLACK PARROT appeared in only the Radio Showcase catalog, so the broadcast date still needs to be verified.
