NBC formed this Orchestra in 1936 under the leadership of Arturo Toscanini. Later Leopold Stokowski became affiliated with the Orchestra. David Sarnoff of NBC was convinced that such a program would be a great contribution in bringing fine music to the masses. NBC raided many of the nations leading mucial organizations in an effort to build the finest orchestra in the world and even built a special studio to house the orchestra.
