One of radios most prolific performers. From a career in vaudeville in the 20's. Talent scout discovered her in 1930 and a shortlived radio program developed in 1931. Heard by CBS chief William S Paley who brought her to CBS. Artists such as Abbott and Costello launched after 2-year run on her show, The Aldrich Family spun from series of skits on her show. Irving Berlin's granted her exclusive right to use his song ' God Bless America". Died Jun 17, 1986.
