T H E G R I P O F T E R R O R ----- ------- --- ----------- 1977 First Show: ??? ??, 1977 Last Show: ??? ??, 1977 Number Shows: 12? Audition Show: none Series Description: THE GRIP OF TERROR was the product of Professor Eli Segal, who produced and directed the series. The shows were heard on WMUK-FM, Kalamazoo, Michigan, the college radio station of Western Michigan University. This series of 30-minute shows were mostly adaptations of scripts from shows of radio's Golden Age. You'll find titles that you may remember from SUSPENSE, ESCAPE or INNER SANCTUM. Although amateur casts were used, the productions are still quite decent. Actual dates of the broadcasts are not known nor is the number of shows in the series. Besides THE GRIP OF TERROR, Professor Segal also produced FUTURE TENSE (1974 & 1976), AUDION THEATRE (1990), a series on radio history which included interviews with Fred Foy, Bud Collyer, Jackson Beck and others (1976) and many others. Log Comments: There is little information available on these shows. Fortunately, the J. David Goldin database had enough information to provide this start of a log. Additional information was obtained from corrections to "Science Fiction On Radio: A Revised Look At 1950-1975" by James F. Widner and Meade Frierson III found on Jim's web site. The "Avl" column means "Available". If "yes" appears in the column, the show appeared in the GOLDINdex. Since it was cataloged, it is hoped that it is available to collectors. I have not seem these shows listed anywhere else.
