C E I L I N G U N L I M I T E D ------------- ----------------- 1942 - 1943 First Show: Nov 9, 1942 Last Show: Apr 30, 1943 Number Shows: 72 Audition Show: none Series Description: CEILING UNLIMITED started out as a wartime patriotic salute to aviation, in 15-minute shows. The first thirteen shows were written, directed, produced and hosted by Orson Welles and included Mercury Theater actors in the casts. Some to make appearances were Ray Collins, Joseph Cotten, Agnes Moorehead and Everett Sloane. The shows were dramatic pieces written to show aviation's use in the war effort. The series was sponsored by Lockheed and ran until Jun 21, 1942. The series was brought back on August 8, 1943, this time in musical/ variety format. These shows ran 30 minutes and were hosted by Nan Wynn. Sponsor again was Lockheed and aired until April 30, 1944. Log Comments: Information for this log came from the Internet site of Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, specifically from the "Guide To The Orson Welles Materials In The Lilly Library". Unfortunately, it only contained titles for shows produced by Orson Welles. I found no additional show titles in any vendor catalog although I did find other titles for the same shows. For January 25, 1943, they list both recording and script for "Mrs. James and the Pot of Tea". They also list a recording for "Flyer Come Home" and a script for "With Your Wings" on the same date. This log assumes that all three are vignettes in the same show. Chronological Log: Date Day Num Title ------------ --- --- --------------------------------------------- .......
