1956 - 1957
First Show: Jan 27, 1956 Last Show: Sep 22, 1957
Number Shows: 86 Audition Show: none known
Series Description:
Following in the tradition of THE CBS WORKSHOP of the 1930's and
1940's, THE CBS RADIO WORKSHOP offered the listener an anthology
series that was one of the finest series of programs ever aired. It
featured stories by major authors, parts played seasoned actors and
frequently offered a place to try new things on the radio. Many of
the shows are considered classic representations of the very best of
Golden Age radio drama.
Log Comments:
This particular series appeared frequently in the various catalogs.
Dates appeared often. Only the Radio Memories catalog had episode
numbers for all shows although a few others had some as well.
There were a couple of conflicts. Jay Hickerson's "Ultimate Guide"
(See "References" section) says there are 87 shows in the series.
I've only found 85. I haven't consulted Jay's log. Jerry Haendiges'
log list only 84. It does not include the show from 11-09-56,
"Colloquy #4: Joe Miller's Joke Book".
Steve Kelez' catalog listed the type of show, comedy, adventure,
drama, etc. I've added a column here to include this information.
