Bob Hope developed his style of telling monologues and rapid-fire jokes, a hard worker at developing the best joke to get laughs he had even harder working joke writers who turned out literally hundreds just to get one joke chosen. His remotes from military establishments to entertain the troops cemented his place in peoples hearts. Although much of this material is topical in nature and requires some knowledge of the people and times in which it was said it gives an appreciation of what the world found funny in an unfunny time.
